Aside from the “regular” waste management world, there is the work of silent, local, informal waste collectors in North Macedonia, whose contribution for a cleaner environment is growing. This presentation, to be held by REDI’s Asib Zekir, will focus on the work of these informal waste collectors, how it grew to this level – with the development of REDI, all the way to diving deep in the processes and phases they’ve ingrained in their work!

Asib Zekir is the Director of Green Initiatives and the social enterprise Roma Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (REDI) Recycling. He has an educational background in Financial Management, and after working and volunteering in a variety of organizations from the non-governmental sector, which include Health Education and Research Association (HERA), Macedonian Young Lawyers Association (MYLA), MFI Horizonti, and many others, Asib had the chance to dedicate to his area of expertise – economics – and since 2018 has been part of the founders of REDI.
